2018 Spotlight campaign closing event

Fossil Free SA has for some time been running a petition campaign on social media and on the ground to persuade SA's top asset managers and owners – Allan Gray, Coronation, Investec, Old Mutual, Sanlam and the Government Employees' Pension Fund –  to offer fossil fuel-free funds.

We believe the case for decarbonising investment in South Africa is ever more compelling and we have been heartened by the public response to our efforts. Globally, the number of institutional investors committed to divestment has increased to 985, with $6.24 trillion in assets under management, up from $52 billion four years ago.

We're holding an evening drinks event on Thursday 4 October to mark the close of this phase of our campaign, and you are warmly invited to attend.

The event will be attended by, we hope, and amongst others, representatives of the companies addressed by the petition as well as representatives of institutions that have divested or are considering divestment.
